This type of menstrual back pain doesn’t have to be your reality. It could be a thing of the past.
Why does your back hurt on your period? There are many different reasons. We’ll get to that a little bit later. First let’s get to the solutions.
5 Ways to Relieve Back Pain From Menstruation
1. Exercise Move – When you’re at the gym, look for the exercise machine that is called the low back extension machine. This is where you sit on the machine and then slowly extend your back backwards and then back to the sitting upright position. When you first start the exercise, you’ll use a low weight that you select. You’ll do 10 repetitions and then rest for a minute. Next you’ll increase the weight another 10 pounds and do another 10 repetitions. Then rest for a minute. Continue this process for another 3 sets, increasing the weights. You can decrease the repetitions by 2 repetitions each time you raise the weights. By the time you get to the end of the five or six sets, you will notice your back will be stronger and your pain is less.
2. Stretch Move (Yoga Pose) – Any stretch of the lower or middle or upper back can make a big difference on a backache, depending on what you do and what ails you. One type of stretch move is where you’re down on all fours on the floor and then you mimic the motions of a cat that hunches its back and then relaxes it. In yoga, there’s a pose called a cat pose that many PMS women like to do when they want to tell their friend how to get rid of period back pain.
3. Herbal Remedy – You might find it quite interesting, but cannabis is one of the herbs that is used for back pain, including back pain during the period. You might say, “That is crazy! What helps menstrual back pain is cannabis?” Yes, in fact some pain clinics are using cannabis almost exclusively for all types of pain. And since many people with back pain are considered disabled, there’s quite a bit of research on it. Doctors want people to get back to work, as back pain causes far too many people to miss work each year.
4. Period Vitamin – This solution works against period cramps in the back because it hits the nutritional aspect of back pain during your period. When you look at all the many causes of an illness, you could state psychological, physical, and spiritual. In the physical realm, there might be mechanical causes, nutritional causes, and toxic causes. A period vitamin addresses the nutritional causes. It supplies the necessary vitamins and minerals your body needs during your period. You simply take one capsule daily. The different vitamins and minerals act synergistically with each other to give you an overall positive effect in your body. Does it work against period back pain? Yes, it can over time. But don’t expect it overnight.
5. Anti-Inflammatory Herb Turmeric – Turmeric is an herb known for its anti-inflammatory effects. It can work for period pain relief. It’s often used as a home remedy for any time when there’s pain – and inflammation. You have to take a lot of the herb turmeric for it to be effective. Taking nine capsules a day is a good start.
