What causes fatigue during menstruation is something that a lot of women want to know, and rightfully so. It’s no fun to have fatigue when you’re in the prime of your life.
Fatigue During Periods is Not Normal Although It May be Common
First let it be said that fatigue is a sign that something is out of balance. When everything is going well in your body and with your health, fatigue only comes at night before you go to sleep. If you’re tired throughout the day, then it’s possible that you have an infection. This is a common cause of fatigue.
However, if you don’t have an infection, then symptoms of extreme fatigue during PMS that you only get at your period pretty much mean that your body needs a little extra boost in B vitamins and minerals, which allow you to get more energy out of metabolism.
Are You Already Using Coffee to Alleviate PMS Fatigue?
One natural remedy that you may already be using to alleviate PMS fatigue is the caffeine from coffee. This may work temporarily, but it becomes a crutch to fall back on too often without getting to the root cause, plus it’s too easy to get addicted to it. Caffeine in coffee may even worsen the condition of fibrocystic breasts.
You may be thinking to yourself, “If I have to give up coffee, I’ll never have the energy to learn how to fight fatigue during my period!” I just want to know why am I so tired on my period?
So I don’t recommend giving up the coffee until you find your natural remedy that does get rid of PMS fatigue first.
B Complex and Vitamin C Battle PMS Fatigue
You can start with taking a B complex and vitamin C together at least once daily. The B complex should have at least 25 mg vitamin B1, B2 and B6 in it. The Vitamin C should have ascorbic acid in it – at least 500 mg but 1000 mg is better, along with bioflavonoids and rose hips. Of course, if you’re allergic to roses, you wouldn’t want one that has rose hips in it since the rose hips is a part of the rose plant.
When you take the B complex and vitamin C, take it in the morning after breakfast or at the end of breakfast. Vitamins are best taken with food instead of on an empty stomach. If you can do this while on your period and the rest of the days of the month, you’ll start to notice more energy by at least the end of the second week. Many women find relief in the first few days.
Herb Called Yerba Mate
Another treatment for getting rid of PMS fatigue is an herb called Yerba Mate. This herb is used in the Amazon Rainforest to give the men that are working heavy labor more energy. As you can imagine, if you run low on energy in these types of jobs, you don’t last too long on the job. Take one teaspoon of the herb and place it in a coffee cup. Add one cup boiling water and then let it steep a few minutes. Sip thinking about all the things you’ll do with your extra time.
Period Vitamin Works Well on Period Fatigue
The last way to eliminate fatigue on your period is with a period vitamin. The period vitamin picks up where the B complex and vitamin C left off. The B complex and vitamin C don’t contain minerals, other vitamins, and herbs that help support your body during this time of the month.
The period vitamin does. It is a good way to get more of a comprehensive attack on the fatigue issue. Many women note that their fatigue disappears after taking the period vitamin for a few months. It takes that long because your body stores of vitamins and minerals is low.
