Since the beginning of time, herbs have been used for PMS fatigue. Women thought nothing of using it for fatigue – and it worked quite well. No matter what country the women lived in, they had their own set of herbs to use for PMS fatigue. And if they weren’t living in an industrialized country, it didn’t matter that they didn’t have money to go to the grocery store to get them. They simply walked out in their own back yard or into a nearby field to get their herbal medicine.
The best herbals to take for menstrual fatigue depend on what’s available to you. If you live in a wooded area, there are herbs in the field that may be identified, gathered at the right time of the year, and used to make a cup of tea or a decoction to brew that will do the job. If you live in a city and have access to stores, then you can get tea bags, loose tea, an extract, or a tincture of the herbs to use to beat PMS fatigue.
Examples of PMS Fatigue Herbal Treatment
Here’s a list of five different herbs that can help unleash abundant energy when you have PMS fatigue:
1. Wild yam – Wild yam is not only a food, but may be used as an herb. The Latin name for wild yam is Dioscorea villosa. Either eat a half of a yam or take the capsules – 2 caps twice daily.
2. Dandelion root is the root of dandelions that help detoxify the liver. When your liver is detoxified, you will feel more energy. Dandelion root is also a diuretic as well, which can help decrease swelling and PMS fluid retention. Take two capsules a day.
3. Chasteberry fruit extract works directly on the pituitary gland. It’s your pituitary gland that regulates your reproductive hormones. When your reproductive hormones are out of balance, then it’s expected that you’ll end up with PMS fatigue. The dosage is 100 mg twice daily with a 10:1 extract.
4. Red clover tea – This is a simple cup of tea with one teaspoon red clover herb. Let it steep for about 5 minutes. Then sip over the next 15 minutes. Red clover acts as a blood cleanser, removing excess estrogens that are causing PMS fatigue. The dosage is 1 cup tea daily.
5. Flax seeds are another type of “herb” or food that helps your body remove excess hormones, thus alleviating PMS fatigue. You don’t have to make a tea out of the flax seeds. Just get a tablespoon full and eat them. Chew them really well so you can unleash the lignans in the seeds which are the medicinal constituents in them that work. The dosage is one tablespoon daily.
One additional way to beat PMS fatigue is to take a period vitamin. This is a vitamin and mineral supplement that also includes herbs to balance out the hormones during the entire menstrual cycle. Only one period vitamin is needed per day so it’s an easy solution for PMS fatigue. It works because of the additional B vitamins as well.
